Private international law is the part of private law that determines which of the
laws of different states are most competent to regulate a legal relationship when
there are legal connections to more than one jurisdiction. This area of law entails
rules regarding jurisdiction, rules dealing with compliance with foreign judgments,
and rules that address the question of which substantive law will be applied to a
case.
